Texts at the Turn of a Chapter

Texts at the Turn of a Chapter August 11, 2024

Scriptural Texts will speak to you at all times, even at the uncomfortable turn of a chapter. I just turned one year older. I am certain of this. The year ahead of me has got to be easier than the year behind me. I sense that I am edging out of the storm, out of the rough waters. This has been confirmed to me from a voice at church that operates in the prophetic.

And so a chapter turns. I am facing uncertainty. However, uncertainty does not have to mean anxiety. So, during this challenge, this turn of a chapter, I continue to draw strength from my daily office. These Texts are selected from my daily readings, except for the Text from Haggai. My pastor preached from this Text.

People may be right in their own eyes,
but the Lord examines their heart.
Proverbs 21.2

A single day in your courts
is better than a thousand anywhere else!
I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God
than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.
Psalm 84.10

Unfailing love and truth have met together.
Righteousness and peace have kissed!
Psalm 85.10

Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
HEAR MY URGENT CRY.
I will call to you whenever I am in trouble,
and you will answer me.
Psalm 86.6-7

But you, O Lord,
are a God of compassion and mercy,
slow to get angry,
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
Psalm 86.15

O Lord, how long will this go on?
Psalm 89.46.a

“Oh how long?”

For he will rescue you from every trap
Psalm 91.3.a

The latter splendour of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts; and in this place I will give prosperity, says the Lord of hosts.
Haggai 2.9

“I will rescue…
I will protect…
I will answer…
I will be with…
I will rescue and honor…
I will reward…”
Psalm 91.14-16
