I have not been writing lately because my siblings and I recently moved my mother into Memory Care and prepared her home for sale. Sr. Peg’s passing surprised me! She was such a force for good who continued serving far beyond retirement age that she almost seemed immortal. As I searched for her obituary, I found that her twin, Sr. Mary Pat, had also died a few weeks before as had another sister, Sr. Jude. A fellow parishioner, Stan, had also passed away. The demise of the Pac-12 conference this past year means unfortunate changes for student-athletes in ten schools. The changes will additionally affect the schools with which they compete. Why should media networks favor some college conferences over others? Public school chaplains concern me for several reasons. I do not even include the obvious separation of church and state issues.
