Between Courage and Hope: 91 days Hostages held by Hamas.

Between Courage and Hope: 91 days Hostages held by Hamas. January 5, 2024

It is almost 100 days since Hamas massacred and took hostages from the villages of Southern Israel.

It takes courage to hold hope in challenging times.

In between the two there can be many moments of darkness.

It is almost 100 days since Hamas massacred and took hostages from the villages of Southern Israel.

Surviving such a traumatic experience takes immense courage. Speaking up afterward requires strength and resilience beyond measure.

I know listening to their bravery allows me to carry moments of hope.

For it is in their courage we must continue to fight for the release of over 133 hostages held in Gaza by Hamas.

8 of them American citizens.

Hoping that the world hears the voices of those that cannot speak.

Every Friday and Sunday for the last 3 months I attend.

Either a rally, run or organized walk

with the family forum for hostages.

I hold a poster with a face on it.

Each time a different picture appears on the red, white and black poster.

It is the face of a child, parent, woman, son, cousin, aunt or grandparent.

A daughter, grandchild, wife, husband, sibling, or finance’.

I have come to recognize their smiles, color of their eyes.

Where they were taken hostage from.

We read the names of each and every one of them.

It is almost 100 Days.

Since these precious souls have been held hostage by Hamas in Gaza.

We keep the courage of those that survived close.

Hoping that the world hears the voices of those that cannot speak.

Sexual assault, torture and inhumane conditions these are their days.

I know when they return, they will want to know that our smile is alive.

I have found courage and hope during these last almost 100 days.

As well as met up with moments of pain, sorrow and darkness.

I encourage you to listen to the memorial for my dear friend Vivian Silver.

A  peace activist ,who was massacred on Oct 7th at her home on

Kibbutz Beeri’.

You will hear about the courage for hope and the darkness in between.

My partner in life and love hosted children and siblings of hostages ranging from 14 to 22 years of age.

Some of who themselves were survivors of the horrific

Oct 7thattack.

We listened to their stories of survival.

Their tears of pain and grief.

And amongst all of that, there was a deep and profound hope.

For when they once again will hug their loved ones.

In our moments of aliveness, lives sparks of hope.

I know when they return, they will want to know that our smile is alive.

My plea to a power larger than myself is

to bring them home now.
