Patheos is excited to announce the launch of our groundbreaking content initiative: Sacred Spaces: The 100 Most Holy Places on Earth. This remarkable project aims to redefine the way religious locations are ranked and provide a comprehensive guide to the world’s most sacred sites.
For 10 weeks, we will unveil an exclusive selection of ten of the most revered spiritual destinations on the planet until we reach our top selection of The Most Holy Place on Earth.
To determine the rankings for Sacred Spaces, Patheos employed a unique algorithm encompassing various factors. This includes the combined rankings from world-class religious scholars, Patheos religious writers from diverse faiths, multi-faith affiliations, and an analysis of web search trends. The result is a comprehensive and inclusive ranking that reflects the collective wisdom and expertise of a diverse group of individuals and data.
However, this initiative is much more than a 10-week event. Recognizing a significant void in the availability of comprehensive information on holy sites worldwide, Patheos aims to help readers of all backgrounds deepen their understanding and respect for religious locations of various faiths and cultures.
Patheos has enlisted the expertise of renowned world religion expert, Alonzo L. Gaskill, PhD, who meticulously researched and wrote the captivating content for Sacred Spaces. Dr. Gaskill’s profound knowledge and deep understanding of religious traditions ensure an authentic and insightful exploration of each sacred location.
We are kicking things off this week by showcasing locations No. 100 – No. 91, which is an admirable showing given that there are thousands of locations considered holy to the world’s religions. But don’t take my word for it.
